Tottenham produced an utterly dominant performance as they beat miserable Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Brennan Johnson scored early following Micky van de Ven's driving run and though Bruno Fernandes' red card made United's task trickier, Spurs were superior throughout. Goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke better reflected their superiority.

The result leaves Erik ten Hag's team languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table and the United manager facing fresh questions about what exactly he is building. Back-to-back wins for Ange Postecoglou's side lift them up to eighth.

  1. Says more about United than spurs to be honest, but credit where it’s due Spurs looked great.
I just think United are in a serious mess at the minute, the body language of the players implies they couldn’t really give a toss.

  2. All the money United have spent to actually look worse. How did they think they could compete for top 4 with 2 very young strikers and a bunch of wingers that don’t score much either?

The midfield is comically bad and they brought in a lad who PSG didn’t want to fix it.

In defence they brought in two lads who Bayern didn’t want and in some weird twist of reality Onana has suddenly become their best player, God help them.

  3. Spurs were good, even great at times but Manchester United are absolutely woeful right now. They are a bunch of overpaid underperformers

  4. They still would have lost even with 11 men.

Man Utd now have a handful of good/very good players compared to 2-3 years ago so this is all on ETH, another manager would not be overseeing this week after week.

  5. United are absolutely hapless every time I see them play.

Incredible how Ten Hag is still in the job. He’s one of the worst managers in the league, IMO. Literally everybody knew how it would go this season after they kept him on.

  6. Anytime I watch a United game I struggle to see any sort of style of play. It’s kinda baffling, a manager in his third season should probably have implemented *some sort* of style of play by now, but nope, game to game I don’t ever really see what Ten Hag is going for

  7. You could understand them losing by being unlucky, outclassed, or even switching off for a few seconds – but Spurs were actually passing the ball around in United’s penalty area like it was a training game. United simply aren’t applying themselves in games, I can’t even see the shape of the team as the back line disintegrates under pressure.

  8. I remember when OT was an absolute fortress, away players were going there with their knees shaking, now it’s just a training ground for many teams.

  9. I had high hopes for United today but even before the goal was scored you could see something is seriously wrong. It does look like the midfield is pretty good, they can and do make some outstanding passes, but it all falls apart in the final third. Their forwards fail to receive or make basic passes. It was frustrating to see so many promising drives just fizzle out because of absolute Sunday league quality of play.

There’s also a distinct lack of intensity. As much as a it pains me to say, Spurs looked electric. Could be because United wasn’t putting up much of challenge but Spurs players were everywhere. Pressing hard, pace in attacks, tracking back quickly. They looked like a team full of energy and intent and United kinda looked like they couldn’t be arsed.

Defensive structure was also god awful. I get they were playing a high line but failed to keep players offside and then there was so much space in between defenders it was too easy

No fight for 50/50s or the third ball. Pressing was kinda meh, tracking back was meh. Just zero intensity. You could clearly see United was getting dominated and when the first goal was scored all I really hoped was United does what they usually do and sneak a goal in and hold Spurs to a draw

  10. Being a United fan is frustrating, betting on them to lose or draw each game though is at least giving me some comfort

  11. Kulusevski and Bentancur were really on it today, I like Johnson‘s performance but it was nowhere near that of those two.

  12. united needs to comeback! We seriously need a top performance right about now, can’t loose the morale so early into the season
