Since the beginning of 2024, Ukrainian drones have targeted approximately 33 oil assets in Russia, primarily refineries, according to the OSINT group Liveuamap, as reported by the Kyiv Independent. While Kyiv has not confirmed the exact number, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in June that over 30 oil targets had been hit, some near Russian military deployment areas close to the Ukrainian border, while others were as far as 1,500 kilometers deep into Russia.

Oil refineries, which convert crude oil into products like gasoline and diesel, are a cash cow for the Kremlin. According to the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), Russia earned an estimated $520 million per day last month from crude oil and oil product exports. The viral videos of drones striking refineries have boosted morale in Ukraine and weakened the Kremlin. However, the tangible impact may not be as significant as Ukraine initially hoped. Although oil companies likely spent tens of millions of dollars repairing their facilities, this is a drop in the ocean compared to their multibillion-dollar revenues.

A Western official, speaking to the Kyiv Independent on condition of anonymity, said that Ukraine’s operations had significantly reduced Russia’s oil refining capacity, but “it has not had a strategic impact on Russia.”

“These attacks primarily target fuel refinery facilities that support Russia’s frontline forces rather than the entire economy.”

According to a report by the UK-based Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES), Ukrainian drones can now fly longer distances than ever before, putting more than half of Russia’s total refining capacity—approximately 3.7 million barrels per day—within the line of fire.

  13. Europe buys 50% of Russian oil, China 20%, in 2024.If Europe wants to stop the war, why is it helping to strengthen the Russian war machine in large quantities, while on the other hand it is helping Ukraine with weapons, I don't understand this world anymore

I am not that religious but I read an article that the Virgin Mary appeared in Ukraine in 1987 said Ukraine will suffer a lot for a long tine from Russia but Ukraine will get their in dependence later on
