What good will piles of money be when everyone is dead
This is why I have a problem with the Biden IRA plan when it comes to ending fossil fuels. The core idea is that we can make renewables cheap enough to push fossil fuels out of the market without any formal limits on extraction / burning of oil and gas. But this ignores how much money and power there is behind burning every drop of oil and cubic meter of gas. It’s not a free or fair marketplace since these power players can influence politics and even world events to keep us addicted to emitting carbon. We need sticks, not just carrots in the next climate bill.
