It’s kinda wild to me (I don’t mean this disparagingly) that I’ve Portuguese users here, on YT, Quora and other online spaces resenting the revolution and wishing they stayed a monarchy. I’ve seen some of the discourse (translated, however reliable that was) and I can’t tell if it’s because they missed the symbology of the monarchy, their time as a monarchial nation or simply because of how much everyone hated the republics that replaced it (at least at first?).
I can’t believe most Portuguese ultimately feel this way, but I’m surprised so many do, and so openly.
I must visit them someday.
And two beautiful Portuguese women on that postcard!

Aren’t you forgetting a little sth. that happened between then and now?
Feliz Dia da República!
One of the first republics in Europe, luckily many more followed.
Gratz.
But white-blue flag was cooler. Current one looks too Eastern European (too Belarusian).
Congratulations!
I love all my Balkan brothers, including Portuguese people!
Should have kept the monarchy . The republic is corrput to its core.
Fun fact, today also marks 881 years since the signing of the Treaty of Zamora that established the Kingdom of Portugal in 1143.
Happy birthday!
