Ukrainian combat aircraft launched a serious double strike on Russian troops in occupied Avdiivka. The goal of the operation was to weaken enemy forces advancing on the city of Pokrovsk. This was reported by Sky News, citing sources in Ukrainian military intelligence. A video of the strike, filmed by a Ukrainian Armed Forces spotter drone, was also published.
” Ukrainian fighter jets fired British-French cruise missiles at Russian troops who are trying to advance towards the key city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine,” the publication reported.

Sources claim that the air strike targeted two Russian military command centers in the city, which are advancing on a key logistics hub on this section of the front, slowly moving forward. The strike is believed to reduce the offensive capabilities of the Russian occupation forces. The losses of the Russian army in this attack are being clarified. OSINT experts, using the footage, determined that the strikes hit the railway infrastructure and concrete plant in Avdiivka, which were used by Russian troops.

Kyiv asks its Western allies for permission to strike military targets in the Russian Federation with these missiles, but the United States refuses to grant it for fear of escalation. Since the beginning of the summer, Russian forces, in a full-scale offensive in the Donbas, have achieved their greatest advance since the start of the war in February 2022, pushing their troops to within a few kilometers of Pokrovsk, one of the Ukrainian army’s logistical hubs in the region.

Facing an increasingly critical situation, the men of the 68th Brigade of Ukraine were brought back a few weeks ago to stem the Russian advance. For now, the Ukrainian forces seem to have stabilized the front, but no one knows for how long. After facing acute ammunition shortages for most of 2023, Ukrainian forces have in recent months secured enough supplies to defend themselves. This improvement is largely thanks to the initiative of Czech President Petr Pavel, who managed to mobilize nearly a million shells from allies worldwide.
