  1. I am not from London but from Australia and will visit the UK whenever i can. Anyway one visit in the early 2000’s was walking towards my tube station in Shepards Bush when i saw a poster for an event called “School Disco” or something.

My first thought was that the gal on the left was a splitting image for Calley Donnigton from Grange Hill (turns out it was her) and once I left London that year thought nothing more of it until i saw this image again over the weekend

Anyway the question is. Anyone remember anything about these events and were any other Grange Hill folk involved?

  2. Yes they were very popular in the early 2000s. They were a bit of a cheesy cattle market for mid 20 something Londerners. Seems a bit weird now to think of young professionals copping off with one another dressed in school uniform (well, a kind a fetish fantasy of school uniform with short skirts, knee socks etc). Not the sort of thing being acceptable now. Went to a few back in the day but don’t remember seeing anyone from Grange Hill. Perfectly possible I suppose.

  3. There used to be a regular one in the Docklands (I think) called ‘Sunday School’ that they ran on Sundays. Very popular with antipodean visitors to London at the time 🙂

  4. It is a really odd way to dress, looking back, and was popularised by Britney Spears’s Baby One More Time look – knee high or over/ knee socks, pleated skirt, pig tails tied up with fluffy pink scrunchies. I went to one with a fake ID while I was still at school (about 17 yrs old). They happened outside London too
