  1. People who live in Florida?

I mean they have known for a while this could happen.

Grifting money to a “rich” republican state that has a large base of people who do not work but require money from SS to make it.

  2. It’s cute all these answers but I know the real one…

Nobody. Nobody is going to pay.
    Most of this is LOSS.

Insurance isn’t going to pay and you know taxes are NOT going to pay.

It’s a loss for these people. Even those who had insurance will get shafted.

We need to help these people because nobody else is. I plan on donating what I can because that’s what we need to do.

  3. Your great grandchildren will be forced to work until age 80 because we spent their inheritance to fix problems today.
That is how this government operates

  4. Well, with billionaires hiding their money, I’m gonna guess it’s gonna come from the dumbasses that actually do pay their taxes properly?

  5. These disasters are going to be the thing that exposes the fragility of the United States.

Milton looks to be a widowmaker of a storm headed for Florida too.

  6. DeSantis built a charity app just for this purpose. No need for tax payer dollars here. /s

  7. I have been thinking about this for quite some time…how many times can insurance companies pay off to rebuild homes destroyed by hurricanes when we get a few really bad ones almost every year? I thought maybe insurance companies would stop insuring homes built on the coastline but hurricanes cause damage inland as well….what’s the answer? Will the local government and Federal government have to pick up the tab?

  8. If Trump wins, everything will be funded by…..
Drill baby drill, tax cuts and tariffs on everything. Tariffs bring in hundreds of millions of dollars according to Trump…🤣

  9. Ohh they know who will pay lmao. They just don’t want to tell people but the tax increases will happen.

  10. Time to get those bootstraps ready! Nobody wants some socialist government helping them when they’re destitute and down on their luck! Right?

  11. if i really had to guess, i would say that it’s going to be a combination of insurance companies, local governments, state governments, and the federal government of the US . am i missing something ?

  12. Maybe everyone should stop buying Starbucks, iPhones, and avocado toast and save for disasters!

  13. Won’t be me I’m leaving the US with my 2 retirements in tow peace out ✌️✌️

  14. Never a question of unlimited billions to spend on bombs, but when it’s our own citizens, nobody knows…

  15. Blue states will contribute disproportionately to the recovery and the affected red states will still hate them and vote against their best interests.

  16. Just have Asheville change its name to Israel and see the U.S. aid come pouring in.

  17. Who paid for Sandy and Katrina and all of the other hurricanes, the annual wildfires, the various other disasters? Probably is mostly tacked on to the national debt.

  18. FYI most other sources are saying like 30-40 billion. Grist is a publication focused on climate change, so they might be biased towards making climate disasters sound worse

  19. Between Helene, Milton, and a storm to be named later, several insurance companies will be declaring bankruptcy soon to avoid paying out policies….it’s the American way.
