Accidental Table Damage Germany Insurance

I was studying and by accident my table tilted and it dropped on the floor. It is slightly damaged. What needs to be done next? I still have to live in this place for a year and I have a liability insurance also. Should I claim my liability insurance now, if I can or should I wait for the year and use it in the same condition ?

  1. The important question you haven’t answered, do you own that table or do you rent it from someone?

  2. Looking at that, it’s barely visible. I doubt that whoever owns the table would even notice this.

I suggest you save your self some trouble, and just ignore it. If someone asks you about it, yeah, say what happened, but that should be it. It’s unfortunate that such a thing happened, but it’s part of using objects that they will get worn and even have such things.

If you want to do something about this anyway, then I suggest you get some wood polish and paint over that, so the bright spot doesn’t show up. Getting insurance involved would be useful if you needed to buy a whole new table and that table was expensive.

  3. This kind of scuff could easily be put down to normal wear and tear, which your landlord can’t charge you for.
