Romanian here. These days we have savy antrepreneurs that torch forrests planted with funding to hide the fact the money was stolen( but said forrests appear in statistics) and plant feromone lures in any areas to attract bugs to kill the trees so they can be cut. This is in an european country, albeit a paragon of corruption. I can’t even imagine the solutiins other countries come up with to keep killing our planet.
Still we would like every tree we can get. To reduce CO2 in the atmosphere. Not just replace southern trees with northern trees. Deforestation in the tropics **is still a bad thing**.
Still for those who like their knowledge accurate I drop this FYI.

Why? Global warming is opening up new northern areas for trees to grow. Especially in Russia. [Which has the world’s largest population of trees.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_forest_area#:~:text=More%20than%20half%20(54%20percent,%25)%20and%20China%20(5.4%25).)
