Sinwar: now is time to return to suicide bombings

I Posted some articles in a post of Hamas called for a return to suicide bombings (Palestinan suicide bombings largely stopped in 2008, Hamas actually stopped their suicide attacks around 2006 as they came under more Iranian and Hezbollah influence, and Iran started to mold Hamas on Hezbollah tactics in Southern Lebanon tactics)

Do you all thinks the Palestinan factions will return to this horrible and actually anti-religious tactic (ie – you commit suicide, you go to hell)

  1. I don’t think they “Stopped” suicide bombings because of Iranian influence. They stopped because Israel’s modern policies of blocking Gaza’s borders + A barrier, and a very active military occupation in the West Bank.

Later Bibi slowly made that blockade way too soft, and they got such good weapons that they had no need for suicide bombing (Thermobaric RPGs for example, which they used plenty to murder and burn alive whole families during the 7th).

I suspect terrorists in the WB do not have the means to conduct regular suicide bombing (Of course a few might be possible). And in Gaza they don’t need to.

  2. I’m unsure. Despite Hamas’ (and Iran’s) best efforts the attempt to incite a mass-uprising in the West Bank didn’t come to much. But with suicide bombs you can do a lot of damage with only one explosion so even ‘a few’ such may have an impact.

  3. With their numbers being crippled, using suicide bombs would be suicide for the whole organisation. Not that I’m complaining, of course.

  4. I believe the end of suicide bombings was an informal deal between Israel and Hamas in the mid 2000s and in response to its unpopularity as a tactic with internal Palestinian politics.

And it is also largely the reason for fences and checkpoints.

  5. I read this as an increase of suicide attacks, up to and including mass stabbings, shootings, car rammings, etc. where the assailant is almost guaranteed death
