Around 1,700 inmates were let out on Tuesday – with a similar number also set to be freed in October – in a controversial bid by the Labour Government to ease overcrowding in prisons.

Their release date was this year and some were next year, thats why they were released early.

We should put our trust in these foolish reporters. The system knows what kind of prisoners they are releasing. Just because they are black or Asian and wear adidas, they are being racially profiled.
And guess what? All these people getting released early are all going straight on benefits! Where they are living completely free of charge because their houses and cost of living are paid for by tax payers' money. These people can never get jobs under this current system because of the criminal record system checks during job applications and their criminal records. Now they will be doing nothing in the communities and then turn into commiting all sorts of crimes or get recalled in prison. How about scrapping criminal record checks then or actually getting a law in place where employers have to employ them regardless of their offences by not judging them or rejecting their job applications based off that alone and put some serious measures in place to manage or monitor them whilst they work? Since they are already out in communities amongst vulnerable working class people, they might as well be very useful and contribute to the development of this country. The way things are going, it is like building a generation of very lazy citizens, system dependent, unskilled future pensioners, who will later just continue to get looked after by the government due to old age when they have not helped build this country, and just left it all to immigrants/foreigners that come into this country for work. Why don't the government make all these criminals work When they are in a working age and should be working? Instead they are just committing crimes or getting in and out of prisons all their lives until they are old and great or just die. This country is a sad joke😢

It's not like these people got released years early , slight over reaction besides that point though should the now empty spaces not be getting filled by the MP's etc who are proved guilty of the PPE corruption scandal that is being swept under the carpet .I am sure i have read about people going to jail for embezzlement which is sort of the same thing except this is downright theft.

We need more prisons. No need initially to build prisons, make tented prison encampments on remote Scottish islands. That will work very well. Cheaper startup, and no attempts at escape, and a definite deterrent. Similar camps can be created for the illegal immigrants.
