Anyone have any suggestions for all day use home office chairs?

Looking for an office chair after the state mine's in. (https://imgur.com/a/YhQI1LN)

LONG OVERDUE.

I hear Herman miller all the time and second hand but from where? Surely I'd need to try it out? Or is there anything else? Ideally my budget is £350 tops!!

  1. I had Herman Miller at a place I worked for a while, it wasn’t great for me. I’ve seen Steelcase recommended a lot, but I don’t know if it’s possible to get one in budget.

Ideally you need to try them out, any possibility you can get to a specialist store that has a selection of brands and models?

  2. I ended up with a gaming chair from Nitro Concepts. Overclockers had them. That was a couple of years ago.

  3. Atlantis Office – Mala High Back

Really nice mesh chair. They have a non high back version too and hundreds of other chairs. You’ll probably find something to your liking.

They have a show room if it’s within reach for you too.

  4. I know you’d like to spend £350 max, but I’m still going to suggest a second hand Herman Miller Aeron, which you can pick up for £500-£600. Can you really put a price on the health of your back as you age?

  5. Your chair is a veritable arse banquet compared to mine. I also work from home, and I’ve resorted to setting up in my living room or bedroom depending on my mood now. Its irritating because at my desk I’ve got 3 monitors on the go which makes things much smoother, but honestly that butt needs caring for!

  6. It’s worth making a trip to London to check out the Herman Miller showroom on the Aldwych. I doubt my old colleague is still their, but pretty much all their best stuff will be there to try and you can get a run through. I have no idea though, if you need to book an appointment ahead of time – it’s been a while. Miller also offer refubished models as well, so you might get lucky.

[BigDUG](https://www.bigdug.co.uk/office-education-c2889/office-chairs-c2893/ergonomic-office-chairs-c83888) (yes, the industrial racking guys), also sell office chairs, mostly around your price point.

Steelcase are an okay budget option, not as fancy or nice as Miller, but will last well enough.

Whatever you do, don’t buy OrangeBox stuff, it’s literally the cheapest nastiest shit you could find, but is premium price. The amount of them that arrived on site already broken never ceased to amaze me.

As a personal preference, I always like the Sayl or high backed Setu chairs that Miller offer. They’re a lot cheaper than an Aeron or Embody.

  7. Look for used office supply shops. There are loads. We’ve had our used Aerons for 7 years and they’re still perfect. Not cheap, but better than the alternatives.
