I received my Nebenkostenabrechnung and need some advice on whether the charges seem fair.
Here’s what I’m seeing:
I’ve been paying 160 euros per month towards Nebenkosten.
The Techem heating costs in the detailed file I received show 982 euros for my consumption( its an old building )
However, in the Nebenkostenabrechnung, the external heating cost is listed as 1058 euros.
Additionally, there’s a Grundsteuer (property tax) charge of 136 euros added by my landlord.
Altogether, I’m being asked to pay an additional 675 euros beyond my monthly advance payments.
A few questions for the community:
Is it common for the amount in the Nebenkostenabrechnung to differ from what’s listed in the Techem file? I’m unsure if there’s an extra charge or if this is normal and how to verify that.
Is Grundsteuer typically included in Nebenkosten, or should I be expecting it as a separate expense?
Any insights or similar experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

No, it doesn’t add up and might be a mistake. Ask your landlord.

That’s correct. It’s typically part of the utilities costs.
