  1. TLDR:

California Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a law fully banning plastic shopping bags in grocery stores from 2026, updating a decade-old ban that made plastic pollution in the state worse, not better.

  2. Good, but it should have been done over 20 years ago. We will all suffer for the profits made. Clean-up of microplactocs should be paid completely by the companies who caused this.

  3. I save all my plastic bags. Before Milton when everyone was waiting 6 hours in line for bags of sand I just shoveled backyard dirt into grocery bags and stacked them up by the back door. No water got in this time!

  4. How about these 3 as super shedders. Seriously, STOP buying and using these things:
    – food-use plastic cutting boards that shed plastics when you use it, directly sending particles into food and dishwater
    – every single polar fleece clothing item ever made; this material being a massive synthetic microplastic shedder onto your body, air and living environment surfaces, and into the water system and air venting when you wash and dry them.
    – plastic dish “scrubby” cloths made of tiny plastic threads, and any synthetic sponge. These are constantly shedding into your dishwater. If you use these to clean fruits and veggies, microscopic residue is likely on your food.
