China-Taiwan tensions: China issues ‘stern warning’ to Taiwan with military drills

China says major military drills held around Taiwan are a “stern warning to the separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces”.

Tensions in the Taiwan Strait remain high, with China viewing the island as a breakaway province, with which it promises to one day reunify.

The “Joint Sword-2024B” drills saw China use 153 military aircraft in war games around Taiwan, a new daily record.

  1. This is just propaganda Taiwan knows china cannot invade them with out consequences Taiwan is number one producers of computer chips for nato made missiles china cannot profit fight now I agree the sea does belong to china but definitely it Taiwanese land

  3. Because their economy is collapsing, so they need to take their own people’s mind off that. That’s probably why they’re pushing for war.

  5. The next one will be real….because of 2 reasons. First, China is convinced peaceful re-unification is impossible now. Second, the US is arming Taiwan to the teeth and it is becoming stronger. China can no longer wait. It is now only a matter of timing.

  6. Would the US allow China to arm Cuba 100 miles off our coast if Cuba felt a US invasion was eminent, real or manufactured? The US Cuban missile crises was over exactly this. It is hypocritical that we are arming the country of Taiwan but would aggressively respond if China did the same in Cuba. The US would indeed consider blocking the harbors of Cuba and bring it to the brink of war…again.

  7. This war would be epic, two hyper technological superpowers with insane industrial capacity going toe to toe. This is a fight where even if the Americans showed up it wouldn't be a slam dunk like in Ukraine in a purely conventional fight. That's how strong China is now.

    The US always searches for weapons clients in the world and Taiwan is one of them.
    That's all. Taiwan is doomed forever if they think that they can outdo China in war.

  13. US "news" media barely covering this. Makes the Biden/Harris Administration look weak yet again. Heck even Mexico is bullying Biden and Harris. Trying to get their licks in before real leadership returns. Trump 2024.

In 1949 and 1958, China tried to take Taiwan by force twice but failed.China is worried that its attack on Taiwan will fail again, so it has not attacked Taiwan for many years.Taiwan is not as weak as imagined, and China is not as strong as imagined. If Taiwan was weak, China would have taken Taiwan long ago. How could it be possible that it has not dared to take action until now?
