Signs of Climate Change: World’s Rainiest Places-Mawsynram and Sohra Record Low Rainfall This Season

In a concerning development, drastic changes in weather and climate conditions have been recorded in Mawsynram and Sohra as known as Cherrapunjee, the two rainiest places on earth.

Known for their heavy rainfall, Mawsynram and Sohra recorded below-normal monsoon rainfall this season according to the Indian Meteorological Department. Between June and September, Mawsynram received 9,138.0 mm, while Sohra got 7,303.7 mm. In comparison, Shillong and Barapani recorded 1,338.2 mm and 1,216.0 mm, respectively.
