Despite signals the U.S. economy is strong, voters are wary

Wall Street has seen six straight weeks of gains and with unemployment near a 50-year low, there are signs the economy is strong. However, the cost of everyday essentials is still a top-of-mind issue for voters, and although the rate of inflation is at a three-year low, consumers are still complaining food prices remain high. Michael George reports.

  1. What "SIGNALS"?! You mean from JOE ans SKAMALA?! Eph dem! They don't know SQUAT about the ECONOMY! My CHECKBOOK is MY financial ADVISOR! IT tells ME the WH LIES!

  2. If you haven't adjusted BY NOW after the pandemic skyrocketed prices (4 YEARS AGO), then sorry, that's on you. Sales, coupons, bulk-buying, generic brands — these are all strategies you should always use when there's an economic downturn or inflation is higher than expected. When you go shopping, what is a necessity vs. what's a nice to have. The issue with credit card debt and paying off gifts from last year? Why did you spend it in the first place? You can do without — give smaller, more meaningful gifts. Heading into this year, make gifts that will last a while, that are useful, and not something that gets tossed w/in months. With unemployment low, that means if you can, try to find another job. Wages haven't gone down, and though they may have not gone up at the rate of inflation, if you notice the interest rates are coming down, so there's no incentive to raise wages significantly. You can figure this out. The election isn't going to all of a sudden drop the price of goods. It doesn't work that way. The contrast between candidates is so stark, this should be an easy decision and price of goods not a factor in that decision.

  3. Interesting historical fact:
The only man elected to 4 terms as president was during the Great Depression.
The depression never ended all during his time in office but the American voters stuck by him and reelected him three times.

  4. I remember when Barack Obama was running for president and all y'all could talk about was ebola ebola ebola ebola. When the election was over nobody talked about ebola. Y'all just love sensationalism misinformation disinformation confusing the electorate causing mayhem. Whatever happened to balance journalism?

  5. People are spending more than ever because prices are higher than ever. The jobs available don't pay the rent. Unemployment does not reflect people who don't qualify, or are working three jobs to survive. Oh, and both consumers as well as corporations are flying on pure DEBT.

  6. There is nothing strong about an economy built on more than 33 trillion dollars of debt. Stop being a mouthpiece for government propaganda and do real objective journalism. SMH
