Israel Hamas War: Israeli Army Releases Footage Said to Be of Sinwar Hours Before Oct 7 Attacks

The Israeli army released on Saturday (October 19) newly declassified video it says shows late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and his family walking through a tunnel in an unknown location hours before the Oct. 7 attacks. Sinwar, the architect of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza, was killed on Wednesday (October 16) in a gunfight with Israeli forces after a year-long manhunt, and his death was announced on Thursday (October 17). Hamas militants killed some 1,200 people and took about 250 hostages to Gaza on Oct. 7 last year, according to Israeli figures. Nearly 42,000 people have been killed in Gaza since, according to Palestinian health authorities, and most of the 2.3-million population has been displaced.
