Overview
In the first eight months of 2024, 42,006 refugees and migrants arrived in Italy by sea, compared to 114,612 in the same period last year, a decrease of 63 per cent. Most of the 8,526 people who arrived in August disembarked in Sicily (6,693), followed by Calabria (545), Emilia Romagna (245), Sardinia (233), Campania (232), Liguria (200), Marche (196), Abruzzo (65) and Lazio (60).
