Peggy Walsh has served under several parish priests in Beaufort

Peggy Walsh, with Bishop of Kerry Ray Browne on her left, and Beaufort Parish Priest Fr Fergal Ryan on her right, with concelebrants Fr Kieran O’Brien, Fr Kieran O’Sullivan, Deacon Conor Bradley, Fr Kevin O’Sullivan, Fr Denis O’Mahony, Fr Jack Fitzgerald, Fr Tom Looney, Fr Paddy O’Donoghue, Fr Jim Kennelly, Fr Brendan Walsh, Fr Micheál Ó Dochartaigh, Fr John Shanahan. Fr Tadhg Ó Dochartaigh and Fr Jer Godley.

When Peggy Walsh became sacristan of Beaufort Parish in 1983, little did she know she would remain in that role into the next millennium – a time-frame that took in two recessions, a pandemic and, heavens above, a Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil coalition.

But while the outside world has changed dramatically, Peggy has remained a constant in her Parish, performing her duties with due diligence under the foothills of Carrauntoohil.
