Husband bought some quail eggs from a farm shop. 9 out of 24 hatched! They are being very well looked after and having a great time.

It's been really fun to watch the eggs develop and hatch. My daughter will be doing egg development in science next term, so now she's an expert! We will be making some content for the class and potentially taking our quails in for a visit.

My in laws are currently building them a house (more like a palace) in the garden. I will be looking after them indoors for a few weeks.

They're so fun to watch and are growing SO fast. Little raptors causing chaos! They sometimes sleep with their legs out (like in the picture).

One of my life goals ticked off!

  1. I need more information… don’t fertilised eggs need to be kept warm to hatch? Did you experiment by putting them all under heat lamps? Did you eat any before the hatching? I need to know, OP!

    Also, congrats!

  2. When I was a kid I watched this cartoon where a duckling hatched in a character’s hand and called it mamma and followed it around.
I kinda wanted that lol too cute!

I think it was in Tom and Jerry.
Would be sweet if it follows you around and calls you mam.

  3. Good luck! Quails are stupid as all hell, they’re cute but they will try to kill themselves in the most dramatic ways possible.

  4. It’s quail time!

A friend had one called Gregory Peck that died recently, but before that they were quite funny in a semi-dignified bird like way.

    Should be good!

  5. If you have any questions or need any help feel free to message, I hatch anywhere from 100-800 quail a month 😅
