Interesting how they did not consider his homophobic murderous acts to be in any way linked to his religious beliefs, as if ‘radicalization’ is only ever related to political violence. I would have thought beheading gay men in a small community caused ‘terror’ and purposefully so, but as a non-Gardaí what would I know.

Aren’t they living in a council house? They should be gone after for social welfare fraud, you’re not allowed to have those kinds of “savings” if you’re on social welfare
Can’t see from the articles if the Father was working, how could they have this sum of money hidden away?

They are satisfied it (the 350,000) is “not criminally linked” and are determining if a family could accumulate that amount of money solely on social welfare payments alone, as neither parent is employed.
CAB was the best piece of legislation ever introduced in the state. The onus is on the person with the money/assets seized to prove it came from legitimate sources, rather than on the guards to prove it came from criminal sources. It’s the only “guilty until proven innocent” powers they have, but makes total sense.
It will be interesting in this case how he proves where it came from. Particularly as Yousef was on disability benefits but able to cycle around stalking women. ***(Edit: I mixed up Yousef and Palani and Josef Puska – Puska was the one stalking women on a bike)***
