It looks like there will be some snow coming the following days, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough for skiing. So yeah, I’d say you made a mistake here.
there’s already slopes open. no one knows if there’ll be more snow between now and then but you can go ski anyway on the open parts 👍🏻
There should be a couple of centimeters of snow and freezing day temperatures. Sure, some routes will not be open yet but I wouldn’t say you made a mistake.
Didn’t think to Google first or stop to wonder why tickets/hotels were so cheap
According their website they have 3 slopes open out of 44. You will be skiing but not on all slopes.
They use snow canoons to open some slopes earlier but i guess one in camera is not one of them.
I’d imagine they’re making snow already to shoot on the slopes.
They will have enough last winters snow stored up to at least keep the main slope open. With temperatures plummeting below zero next week they might have enough time to make more snow and maybe open one or two more. You’re still very early for the season, but the hills shouldn’t be completely barren.
Too early mate. Sorry. Ask the nearest fin, they can feel the snow
The mistake was picking Levi over Ruka, not the timing of the trip.
Its 50/50 chance of being able to ski, as always! good luck!
These 3 pistes open are basically just one short slope in front of the village.
Luckily the temps are now dropping to continuous subzero so they’ll be able to let the cannons run, so I’d venture to guess that Levi Black, maybe parts of West Point and possibly a piste in the Alpine Training Park are going to be open in early November before FIS WC due in three weeks, but they’re going to be largely closed for the public and reserved for race training.
It gets better after the World Cup competition, though. But don’t expect to do actual linked skiing from one area to another until December – until then it’s like take a car or ski bus to one lift, repeat that one run until you get bored and then change place by car/bus.
To me this whole “seven month season” thing is just a marketing gimmick. If they wanted to prolong the season it should be done in the end: basically they would have the snow in early/mid-May if they wanted to run about 80 % of the lifts and the conditions would be as good as or better than most resorts in the Alps in early April. But I guess there’d be no-one there as people are already thinking about summer. This whole selling October – early November when the skiing is just the short front piste like on an outdoor dry slope is bollocks. Well, technically you’re going to be able to ski but it’s not going to be much of a skiing holiday.
On the bright side: the area should look a lot better (whiter) in a couple of weeks if the forecasts hold true.

It depends what you’re expecting.
