It’s official: the biggest gripe for students in Leeds isn’t leaky ceilings or noisy neighbours – it’s the lack of freezer space! New research from Iceland Foods reveals that over half (51%) of Leeds students are desperate for more freezer room, with the typical student sharing just one freezer with four or more housemates. For some, this “freezer frenzy” even means sacrificing their favourite frozen foods because there’s simply no space to store them.

But help is at hand! Iceland and Deliveroo have teamed up to give away 30 free mini freezers to students in Leeds to help ease the freezer squeeze. The giveaway takes place at The Food Warehouse by Iceland, located at Unit 6, Kirkstall Shopping Park, on Wednesday, 30th October, from 12pm to 3pm (or until stocks last). All you need is a valid student ID to claim one – first come, first served!

Iceland’s research paints a clear picture of freezer frustration: 36% of Leeds students are holding back on buying the food they want, while one in five is arguing with housemates over space, and some have even found their freezer food thrown out by others. A cheeky 15% of students admitted they’d happily padlock their freezers to keep their food safe if they could!

Mike Ordish, Head of Delivery Partners at Iceland Foods, said, “Our research shows that the freezer frustration syndrome (F.F.S) is a major issue for students – especially in cities like Leeds. By giving away mini freezers, we’re hoping students can shop our frozen range to their heart’s content and keep it safe from housemates. And with Iceland now available on Deliveroo, students can conveniently get quality food straight to their door.”

The mini freezer giveaway isn’t all. Iceland and Deliveroo are also running a competition, with one lucky student winning a full year’s worth of Iceland shopping for free! For more details and to enter, check out Iceland’s website.

So, if you’re tired of battling for freezer space or just want to keep your frozen pizzas safe, head to Kirkstall Shopping Park on the 30th and grab your mini freezer before they’re gone!
