HomeWorldEconomyYou cannot be a military powerhouse without manufacturing. An industrial base is as crucial today as it was during WW2, WW1 or in the 19th century.
Yep. This is why strategic government spending is important. We need to make that stuff here for our own security.
And this is why it’s so scary that so many of our components are imported.
It’s why the US feels the need to have such an overwhelming military force. The US wants to win any war with China quickly, since the longer the war, the more industrial capacity is important.
Yup, Australia is a prime example. We went backwards compared to decades ago.
Huh? What does this have to do with industrial base here? The issue is we’re giving/selling them to Israel, and others, not because we don’t have the military industrial base necessary.
I mean this doesn’t really show anything at all. It takes time to start production lines and actually make things. With the sudden increase in number of missiles being launched into Israel it was inevitable that we were gonna run low. Now we will start to make more to compensate. This doesn’t really have anything to do with consumer manufacturing though I agree it is important to produce military equipment domestically or import it only from allies to avoid technology getting into the hands of enemies. To be honest I really don’t think manufacturing matters when it comes to military. We have more than enough manufacturing in the US to cover whatever border conflicts occur around the world. We will never go into a war that will require full mobilization of our economy because the nukes would have been dropped long before that.
