  1. economic output must be lower too since all their workers are going the meat grinder. Pretty sure those soldiers weren’t soldiers by profession before the invasion.

  2. Its fine, they have 3 undecillion rubles entering the economy soon as soon as google pays up /s.

  3. Yea but GDP is increasing and PPP is going up and Russia has become the third largest economy in the world!!

I keep seeing this copium bs on the pro russian channels. It’s quite jarring

  4. >”Difficulties and imbalances remain in the economy,” Putin said. “They are primarily caused by those difficult conditions in which we build up industrial, agrarian, and financial potential.”

If putin says this, that means the economy is extremely fked. This guy up and downplays everything to the extreme, so this right here means the country is already doomed.

  5. Wow, when you cannot cover anymore you have to admit it. Maybe also too many people “falling from windows” will have to admit at some point

  6. I want to hear about the “Russia has made more money than ever from this war” people take on this

  7. This is quite literally a death cycle and I see no way out of it, at this point we are in Wallenstein territory where the War feeds the War.

Because once the war is over and all the massive government spending on it has to come down, Ivan will realize he doesn’t get to slap T-55 tanks together for the salary of a 2021 masters degree engineer anymore, but everything is still expensive as shit

And that’s only the beginning, the mid and long term implications of this war will fuck up Russia for decades to come

Remember, the disillusion and mistreatment of Veterans after the Afghanistan war was a large factor in the downfall of the USSR. Fingers crossed!

  8. Let me guess, he’s taking full responsibility for piloting his country into the ground, apologising to his citizens, and announcing a rigorous plan to turn things around before he leaves office?

    No?

  9. I remember how he was super proud that the Russian economy stood strong and how the sanctions were flops.

  10. Had it not been for the war in Ukraine, Russia might not have felt economic harsh moments relatively. Putin isn’t an expert on Russia’s national economy, so, he has bitten more than he can chew like this war. He might’ve underrated the US’s international financial power to sanction, however, that was brainless guys’ thoughts, honestly. Leaders must have objective and smart eyes for their people’s living conditions, above all. Therefore, he is an autocrat of the Russian Federation.

  11. I know why people are commenting “just end the war then, Putin”, but the truth is that this actually isn’t a viable solution for him right now: the Russian GDP is being propped up by massive government spending on the military and on weapons and munitions production: this is effectively a bubble, and the end of the war will need to see massive cutbacks on government spending, especially on personnel costs, as the massive war time wages they’re now offering will be unsustainable in the longer term, over peace time.

I’m not an economist, so I don’t know how you actually fix the issues, but I know enough to understand that even simply ending the war now, in exchange for sanctions relief, would still pose a huge economic headache for the Russian government, that could last years.

  12. For those who just want to know the gist of it – lately, central bank of russia raised rate to 21%. Means if you pay off a mortgage – your rates are at least that. And this is not the end. They likely will hike rates further.

  13. Russia could have grown fat and rich from gas and oil trade with Europe. Russia had to literally do nothing and they still fucked it up.
