Republicans grapple with messaging on Biden climate law. Trump “intends … to repeal our climate investments and send thousands of good-paying clean energy jobs overseas.” Republicans are flailing, their mixed messages on the IRA becoming a political liability for vulnerable incumbents.

Republicans grapple with messaging on Biden climate law

  1. What happened to the GOP? Years ago they had ideas, action, etc, but now, rudderless. It’s not just the impact of Trump, but they seemingly got dragged down by the Tea Party before the arrival of the American Fuhrer.

    It’s rather sad.

  2. Of course these Republicans could admit that the IRA has been a huge success for the US economy, jobs and ability to compete with China in manufacturing, and say they want to further build on this success. But that would contradict dear leader’s lies and bring the wrath of MAGA upon them. Unfortunately they don’t have the spines or integrity to put their country and citizens above their party ideology and fealty to the orange rapist.

  3. They aren’t grappling with this at all, and certainly wouldn’t phrase their position so stupidly. They can however say that the “Inflation Reduction Act” was a lie that had nothing to do with inflation and more to do with giving taxpayer money to well-connected entities.

  4. I work in solar in NC and SC. We employee blue collar workers and the tax benefits under the IRA are very attractive to the homeowners and business owners. It’s about time we support green energy than continue to give tax incentives to big oil when we as Americans dont see lower gasoline prices because (get this) oil is traded in the world market. Time to adapt to the times and build out the green industries before we lose to China.
