  1. > Two residents who lived directly above the accused also heard shouting for help. They looked down and saw the window below was open. They saw a male shouting for help and the police.

    > A number of other witnesses saw a male at a window of the flat with blood on his face, calling for help. More calls were made to the police.

    > Ms McQuillan said: “Police officers attended and made door-to-door enquiries on the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors but were not able to trace the source of the shouting.

    > “They left the locus advising the construction workers to call back if the shouting started again.”

Multiple witnesses report a man screaming for help with blood on his face. Some of these witnesses literally see him at the window, while others live above him.

The police show up, check 3 floors, then fuck off saying “call us if anything happens”. Great work lads. This is pretty representative of the quality of police work every time I’ve had to deal with them.

Apparently you can kidnap someone and beat them bloody with a hammer. That person can then stand at your *open window* shrieking for help to multiple witnesses. The police can then show up, and after all that you *still get away with it*. More than that, they don’t even knock on your door because they can’t be arsed to find the correct floor. It’s absolutely mind-boggling.

  2. The victim’s family have a significant case against the police.

Their neglect of their duties enabled this man’s murder.

Even worse if their current working practices make this neglect normal.

  3. There were witnesses to the abuse that just walked away?

Fuck me, they’re worse than the police!

  4. This all looks sus. The original visit, the investigation and the charges brought. Why is this not a murder charge? Do we just take his word that victim wasn’t thrown from flat ? Suspiciously cack handed

  5. Everyone (rightly) criticising the police here.

But there were witnesses literally *inside* the flat who saw the abuse, and then walked out and never did anything to help or report it. Fucks sake.

  6. Another stellar showing by police Scotland. What was their excuse? Did the lift only go up to the eighth floor?

  7. I witnessed a fight with a teenager and 3 guys in they’re 30s, the young guy being a prick antagoniing them, eventually pulled a machete and the older guys beat the shit out the younger guy.

Eventually police turned up 20 minutes later and tried arresting the older guys who defended themselves.

Told the police they are arresting the wrong people and the young guy was gone, police said we’ll we have a knife of the streets now as if that was a victory

  8. The incompetence of the police will only make people dislike and distrust them more and more. They should hang their heads in shame- proper and rigorous investigation, as well as common sense, could have saved this man’s life. Instead they decided to be lazy
