Even though the situation is serious. I would not call it a world war just yet. For now we only have a clear axis of evil. China, Russia and their proxies. And I would also argue Russia is now no more than a Chinese proxy at this point.
Russian invasion of Ukraine reminds me a lot of the Japanese invasion of China in 1937.
The Chinese regard this as the real start of WW2.
He is also an idiot who demands more bank deregulation
How could this be, we did everything we could not to escalate.
I’ve noticed on multiple occasions over the years…. Dimon likes to stir shit.
I can’t believe after all this time we still care about what bankers think
Why do people keep following what Jamie Dimon has to say like he’s some kind of Oracle?
Of course JPMorgan would say that, his company thrives on destabilization, chaos and bankrupting other businesses.
and i bet he can’t wait. never let a good crisis pass without a hearty redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top.
Every slightly major war since WWII has been described as World War III at least once. I do think the current situation is not at all stable, describing it as WWWIII is just very deliberate fear mongering or fairly baseless speculation. There’s a lot of conflict ongoing but although there are connections, (as there obviously will be in this very interconnected world) but they just don’t have the scale of a WWII or WWI yet, and it’s really easy to forget how major those were. They also aren’t particularly directly connected – there’s no clear Israeli-Ukrainian alliance, just for example – so it doesn’t have the complex system of strongly held alliances that set off the world wars.
1. Newsweek 2. Dude is a moron – noone in JP Morgan knows anything about anything. They can’t even predict if payment file will get accepted or rejected by their own system. 3. How the fuck do American banks even stay in business while being so shit at their job?
We’re not in a kinetic III World War, where presumably the West would win due to stronger economy and better equipped military, and it will not happen due to MAD.
But it is a war of wills, and russia (with help from China, NK, Iran + “neutrality” aka complicity of India and global South) has more will to endure some hardship in order to destroy the rules-based order, the democratic alliances and the US standing in the world.
Meanwhile the democratic West is stuck in a self-defeating loop of weak politicians listening to polls, and population listening to social media, which is full of algorithmically driven radicalization, encouraged by foreign interference.
If you’re a country purporting to be governed by the people, and ignore the fact that the enemy has full direct access to the brains of your people, you are already losing the war that you pretend is not happening.
I rather think of it as Cold War 2
I’d argue crimea and then the Hong Kong crack down were the starts. Covid just delayed it
he says while rubbing his hands.
“We’ve never had a situation where a man is threatening nuclear blackmail. That: ‘If your military starts to win, we’re rolling out the nuclear weapons’ type of thing,” Dimon said. “If that doesn’t scare you, it should.”
This is so dumb it makes my head ache.
Yes we have. That has been the understanding between nuclear armed nations for 80 years. It is called Nuclear Deterrence – the idea that you cannot invade a major power or anyone aligned with them without the risk of triggering the *end of life on Earth!*
My intelligence, for better or worse, cannot suffer listening to people like this speaking as if their audience has just entered the World. They think people are so stupid that they can utter complete non-sense and, by weight of their position in authority, we will just accept it as sound.
He is absolutely right.
If it’s anything like his other predictions, then we’re probably safe
Mr. Dimon is a very annoying and very greedy man but he is not entirely wrong. If Putin gains enough power in Ukraine for a serious victory, then he could easily keep doing the same thing in other countries, and he’d be a very strong ally for Iran against Israel. This would create a necessary continuation of Israel and Iran’s present military conflict, which could become even worse and bring in other Arab countries. Hungary would see little chance for anything other than a solid alliance with Russia, perhaps even leaving the European Union if their double-dipping becomes unsustainable.
🇰🇵will stay allies with Russia, forcing South Korea to keep their military presence high and potential positive diplomacy efforts low, as will the Japanese. China could also find a necessity of staying with Russia, regardless whether they really like it or not. Obviously, their economy will need big investment with Russia, while their national pride will demand continued growth of military provocations with Taiwan, whether anyone else likes it or not. Putin’s public theories of Russia’s long historical claims on Ukraine will be a big lesson for how Taiwan could be handled, as will everyone else’s clear displays of hesitancy for open support when faced with Putin and Xi threatening nuclear escalation.
I cannot imagine what horrors await in Africa and South America but I am certain some exist.
Yawn
Shut up jamie
WW3 – no, but Cold War 2.0 – yes.
Great, so if there’s a world war does that mean we can raise the income tax for the wealthiest like the US did in 1940? Or is it not WW3 enough for that?
You guys need to go outside. We are not in ww3. When bombs are dropping in the civilised world I’ll believe it. Before then it’s just the east being the east. Whether it is the close, middle or far east it doesn’t matter.
On the basis that ‘The first casualty of war is the truth’ I’d say we’ve been at war a whole lot longer.
I don’t know why, but I imagine him rubbing his hands while saying it
I hope his children are the first to be shipped off to fight then, warmongerer
This is no ww3. Because there’s no war in 99% of the world. The only countries where is war is Ukraine and middle east. In middle east is war since forever, before most of us were even born. The only new war is the one from Ukraine that’s only regional, it’s between Rusia and Ukraine, Rusia wants some of its territories back not to invade Europe like most of the paranoic people think. Ww3 will be official when Romania will be attacked because Romania is a strategic point. If Romania falls and let’s say Russia, or North Korea or China or whoever wants to invade Europe, the whole Europe falls in a matter of months. But, let’s face it, the true ww3 is nor gonna be between humans. It’s gonna be between humans and robots/androids with Ai.
It genuinely hasn’t. Don’t get me wrong I can see how it could or has the potential to happen but when it does and the Nukes start flying, half the world’s population is going to disappear in like 2 hours like Thanos snapped his fingers.
