>A Palestinian student who faces deportation over her remarks about October 7 has insisted she was not referring to Hamas.
>Dana Abuqamar, 19, was filmed at a protest one day after the attack describing how she was “full of joy” and “proud that Palestinian resistance has come to this point”.
She expressed support for a terrorist organisation (who are proscribed in the UK – so this is a crime), and was glad that they committed a brutal set of murders, rapes and kidnapping.
She should *obviously* have her visa removed, and the Home Office was quite right to push for that. And it’s quite disappointing that a judge has blocked them from doing so. Particularly on grounds of free speech – supporting terrorism is not free speech.
She is a guest in our country. And like any host, we should be able to kick a guest out if they act unreasonably. Which she has.
Are UK courts ok? We have people being investigated and charged for sharing harmless Facebook memes expressing popular centre right views on immigration, while literal support for genocidal terrorists isn’t enough to get a visa revoked? Gross.
Half of this country would move to Canada if given the chance yet our courts won’t even allow us to deport people back there. What a joke.
From what she said fair enough. I dislike her immensely but I’m a free speech advocate.
I also disagreed with people being arrested for saying deport people during the riots.
I also support even actual racists holding protests or communists.
I’m a genuine free speech advocate and as such I try to support those whose speech I find most deplorable even more than the speech I agree with.
Direct calls for violence are usually excluded but unless explicitly done I’d still prefer they’re allowed.
The Americans 100% have it correct on this.
What an absolute joke our courts are.
Holding a visa is not even a right, it’s a privilege, and one which can be revoked even if you don’t break the law. If you say something or act against the interests of the UK and do not hold citizenship you should face deportation. Citizenship grants you the right to live here, whereas for anyone else it is a privilege.

Just as a reminder of what she did:
