Allegedly north korean from the Kursk region

  1. Not going to lie I am not buying this just for the fact that I’m pretty sure North Koreans don’t get cell phones unless they are in bed with Kim.

  2. He apparently mentions talking to a commander calling him out for not dying “in battle”, so this is supposed to be recorded on Russian held territory.

Is he speaking Russian? Doesn’t sound like it, would need a (south-)Korean person to comment on accent & translation to assess the legitimacy i suppose.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Russians won’t be able to tell what he’s saying in Korean, so that kind of works in favor of it being real. I guess one question then is, who does he think he’s sending this message to?

  3. “Great leader, the sun-faced Kim Jong-Un” is definitely how a DPRK fella would speak of his boss. Curious how sun-face will handle any troops that actually get to return to NK. Hope this guy is in UA custody. Maybe Seoul would take him.

  4. I am 100% behind Ukraine and hope they obliterate the Russian federation, but I canโ€™t help but feel this is propaganda. Would love to be wrong though.

  5. A bit sus. But hopefully it gets fact checked and verified.
Either way, such outcome is exactly what the N.Koreans will face.

  6. This seems so insanely scripted. Impressive so much He knows about how powerfull the Ukrainian army isโ€ฆ I thought we were better than this tbh

  7. it’s a very long and detailed chat for a guy in those conditions. I suspect a bit of propaganda; or at most he’s used to agreeing with those who hold his ass in their hands.

  8. As much as I want this to be true, it seems to convenient. Just days after they supposedly arrived, a guy telling me exactly what I want to hear? Seems unlikely.

  9. Yea, he definitely wouldn’t talk that way being from NK. Subtitles sus as fuck. Go Ukraine though.

  10. Something feels off. I’m all for Ukraine’s victory, but this feels…like a dude with half a face shouldn’t be giving such a lengthy coherent speech.

  11. Poor bastard, forced to fight for a worthless cause knowing full well his family is held hostage back home.

  12. The ‘translation’ just coincidentally happens to be perfect propaganda.

This is silly and obviously either not what he is saying or something scripted he was made to say. More likely he’s some burat pow they’ve used to make this.

Either way it’s bollox, amateurish, and insulting to the intelligence. I’d expect it from russia but it’s disappointing to see it from Ukraine.

  13. 100% Ukraine but this feels like bad propaganda. He just happe a to hit all the Ukraine talking points, all wounds are not visible, bandage is charred for some reason? I have no doubt this shit is actually happening but the video seems dubious.

  14. As others have said this is a bit sus. But hopefully the north Koreans at home on their fast broadband will see this video and not come ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. He is mumbling but I picked up him saying he wasnโ€™t supplied with weapons and he survived by hiding under the corpses.
He does have North Korean accent tho.

  16. Sun faced he is indeed. Or more like … Full-Moon-Faced?

Anyhow, this man’s opinion doesn’t mean much. He’s out of the DPRK for 2 weeks and knows little about the outside world, nor did the Russians likely share any meaningful intel with him before he was sent to the assault.

One must also wonder if he’s talking so much pro-Ukrainian stuff, as he is in captivity and dependent on their goodwill. The situation on the ground is certainly not in favour of the Ukrainians right now.

He’s pumped full of painkillers right now, too.

  17. There was this rhetoric about them being elite soldiers from North Korea, but there is no more elite than near 3 year battle hardened soldiers. As my ex paratrooper neighbour says, your training goes out the window when the bullets are flying over your head.

  18. I made the prediction that NK soldiers would be very impressionable to fake and deep fake content. I thought they would put out directives from Kim jong un fakes but this seems about right too. They have no internet, how are they gonna get media trained quickly enough to spot this stuff.

  20. Where was this filmed? Was he captured? He says the Russian commander told him he was a disgrace for not dying, does that mean he made it back to Russian lines? If so how did this get out? Heck, why is he being treated if the Russian commander didnโ€™t like it.

  21. Ahh we need someone who speaks Korean to verify this video. Seems a bit sus but still possible

  22. Just based on vibes and impressions, but I donโ€™t feel like this guy is saying enough syllables to express all these wordsโ€ฆ Maybe itโ€™s just a flowery translation but this feels more like a fake translation to me. Anybody speak Korean and actually able to hear what this guy is saying?

  23. Im proukrainian but this could be an easy fake no ? Only asking. Dont see really good his face nor his lips.

  24. Honestly, what he is talking sounds like a bad propaganda attempt, as if someone has done it on purpose.

  25. Aaaand oops he suddenly fell from a window in the hospital ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  26. The subtitles seem like nonsense, this guy is too knowledgeable to be from North Korea. He has no real understanding of what this war is about, yet in the video, he comes up with various conclusions, something that wouldnโ€™t be possible if he were truly isolated from the outside world.

  27. Ukraine needs to get some ROK marines and army. Those guys are absolute warriors. And I’m sure they would love to go hunting norks.

  28. There’s a human being in there and this is so terrifying to watch. What are the Russians even attempting to do with this lack of tactic? You can’t just throw people out there, hoping to overwhelm the enemy with…victims? I hope Ukraine gets all the support it needs!
