A few pictures that I took in and around the hydraulic power station. I was working in the grounds. Unfortunately I didn't have access to the building, so all photos were taken through the windows, I tried my best to eliminate glare. Enjoy.

  1. About 10-20 years ago the old power station used to be a posh restaurant and arts space called the Wapping project. It was really good. From what I remember some of the local residents in the new build flats campaigned to have the place closed down because it was “too noisy” and won. It’s Saturday more or less semi derelict ever since

  2. For those interested look up the London Hydraulic Power Company. They used high pressure water to power mechanical stuff all over London. Last time I was there it was an arts centre and still had much of the pumping equipment left in place. It’s odd seeing it empty. The cast iron pipes that took the pressurised water to their customers was sold in the 80s to Cable and Wireless to use as conduits for a fibre optic data network.

  3. 500 year old pub can get proper fibre broadband but I around the corner cannot.

    Nice photos.
