My Scottish girlfriend calls it ‘legs in a basket’ which I found equally weird.
They call it what???
Lived in New York for years. Not once heard anyone say that
Which doesn’t even rhyme
We call it ‘legs in a basket’ in Scotland
If you’re in prek-kinder sure.
I call it crissy crossy leg locky
I heard that recently in some body cam video. Didn’t they used to call it sitting Indian style?
Ummm I live in the states now (originally from Portsmouth UK) and I’ve never heard anyone say sitting criss cross applesauce.
If anything they call it sitting Indian style.
I only know that phrase from American Dad
What do they call folding your arms? Criss Cross what condiment?
Yeah literally no one calls it that except for four year olds. We call it, and bear with me here, “sitting cross legged.”
Life long American here. I’ve never used that phrase, nor heard it uttered.
Welllll…we used to call it…something else.
We don’t call it that anymore. Needed something catchy and cute for the kids.
It used to be called Indian style but that fell out of favor so a quick way to get toddlers and young’ens down was to call out criss cross to which they would respond applesauce while sitting down. It’s an attention getter for young kids.
I love all these *life long Americans* who’ve never heard this phrase
Used to think Americans thought America was the entire world
Turns out it’s just their state
The only person I have ever heard refer to it that way was Burt Kreischer, and he’s a fool.
It’s always been called “sitting Indian style” where i grew up
