Finally… someone calls them out. I heard that in the 80’s, the FDA had decided that 25 grams of sugar was the appropriate daily intake. Since coke had about 65 grams of sugar per can at the time, they lobbied against the decision. To this day, you won’t see a suggested daily intake of sugar on the back of food and drink products. I’m sure coca cola wansn’t the only one against the decision, but they participated in hiding that FDA assessment from the public.
