“Russia is not crossing your lines — it is walking down a red carpet. A carpet, woven from weak responses, unfounded hopes, and complacency,” says the Permanent Representative of Ukraine at the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya

  1. Well said. So true. West is weak. West is scared.

But there is times when you must confront your fears.

Because to do otherwise will only make things worse.

Give Ukraine the support they need. Both in equipment, AND in actual support with troops!

Kick this cavemen out of Ukraine! Do it now! Do it with determination! Show that their primitive behaviour is not accepted! And will never be!

    Героям Слава!

    Слава Україні! 🇸🇪🇺🇦

  2. Our collective western response has been embarrassingly weak while proving deadly to innocent Ukrainians. We announce “help” to alleviate domestic pressure, then drag our heels on delivering said “help” ..
meanwhile, moscovia runs amok with impunity..
Do we really want Ukraine to lose?

  3. Idioticly we have watched russia subvert and attack numerous countries and every step of the way, we rewarded their bad behavior with trade and investments and thought they would change this behavior we financed. The cowardice is beyond embarrassing, but the cynical calculation is worse, it’s unforgivable.

  4. So well written and well spoken! It’s almost poetic, in a sad way.

Let’s hope that things change for the better for Ukraine.

  5. With the Ukrainians’ recent and open sharpening of criticism of the First World’s support (see also Zelenskyy’s complaint about the leak about the request for Tomahawks in the supposedly secret part of the “Victory Plan”), I’m left to gather that the situation in Ukraine is worsening just enough such that more Ukrainians are now less inhibited about telling it like it is via this criticism.

They do this even though it increasingly **validates** their Russian enemies’ cynicism and accuracy about Westerners’ resolve to apply the spirit of “Never Again!” when it matters. Ukrainians increasingly don’t care anymore about “Playing Into Putin’s Hands™” intellectually as Westerners hum-and-haw again and again about the Russians’ knack for committing open atrocities – the latest one being Russians’ unabashed glee over their “human safari” in Kherson of the past several weeks.

The Russians have been dead-wrong about Ukrainians being just Russians who are too stupid or proud to admit it, but they, the Russians, have been *far less* wrong when it comes to the First World’s overall resolve to stand up for their own values and “friends” or “allies”.

This is a huge philosophical own-goal now headlined by Biden (and Sullivan) and, to a certain extent, Scholz.

It’s not only about the Russians trying (again!) to exterminate Ukrainians. It’s also about what Ukrainians and the rest of the world (especially the First World) are doing about it.

Barring a 180 in the slow-drip before it’s too late for the Ukrainians, future generations will routinely look on the 2010s and 2020s like how we today have treated the 1930s and 1940s. Biden and Putin will be the indisputable spiritual spawn of Chamberlain and Hitler respectively.

  6. We all can agree that the US is waiting until Election Day is over. It sucks, but that’s what they are doing…at least, we hope since they have fucked up just about every step of the way in “supporting” Ukraine and this is the only thing that makes sense.

Escalation is a useless word in discussing Russia. All Russia does is escalate, and it’s quite fucking embarrassing for the West. Especially since they have tapped NK to just about everyone’s surprise.

The west needs to bring the hammer down and open up the war chest with no conditions. Otherwise, it will be too late and it will all be for naught.

  7. the west hasn’t yet come to terms that they are at war with Russia already. maybe not a ‘hot’ war, but one nonetheless. Russia is waging a propaganda war, sabotage war, and cyber war with no real response…..it really feels like it is a matter of time…

  8. I don’t think this change in rhetoric is going to work out for Ukraine like they might think it will.

  9. He speaks from a point that Europe and the western world is trying to ignore. Ukraine has bought time and opportunity. We waste it at our peril. America didn’t get on board with ww2 until pearl harbour. This time we may not have a chance to be cozy.

  10. American here. I am older, but have always been interested in the history of World War II. What we are seeing in our time, is the 1930’s pre war history of Hitler’s time. The period of the “quislings” and of appeasement. Politicians without leadership and historically ignorant of the costs of their actions. We, as a species, never seem to be able to learn from past mistakes. It was the Czechs and Polish then that paid the price, and now it is Ukraine unless the West changes course. And make no mistake, there are costs to the entire world, not in money, but blood, of your action or inaction.

  11. It amazes me that we have so many literal baby boomers in Congress that either went through WW2 or knew someone that did and they’re turning their backs on Ukraine like the Allies turned their backs on Poland in 1939. Absolute travesty.

  12. I want him to take care of himself, it looks like hes gained a lot weight in the last year. I understand hopelessness and I hope he has not fallen there yet.
