Taiwan’s offshore wind sector is surging, capturing global investment, and the government is ramping up ambitious targets. From two 4-megawatt turbines in 2016, Taiwan now aims for 5.7 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2025 and has earmarked an impressive 8 GW by 2027. By 2023, the island had already reached 2.25 GW in capacity, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs.
