Regulators deliver successive blows to Amazon and Meta’s nuclear power ambitions

  1. Translation: regulators ensure Big Tech is held accountable to actually pay for the energy projects they’re trying to use as PR distractions, instead of forcing local ratepayers to foot the bill.

  2. That would be the only thing with this miniaturizing of reactors – it exponentially increases the risk of not only incidents, but of security needs. I’d rather we just build huge reactor facilities around the current locations. we powered 20% of the country off the stuff we built 50 years ago. We can modernize and expand at those locations and meet the crazy growth demands.

  3. The new reactors cannot have meltdown. They are engineered against it and they can use depleted uranium from the old gen reactors, and when the new gen is done with the uranium it’s almost down to background radiation levels. There’s truly no reason not to go to that. More smaller reactors will make the grid more efficient, resilient and diverse. It’s the only green energy solution that actually can power the needs of our grid. Solar and wind will never be able to fully power the grid and are even more susceptible to terrorists. It’s much easier to guard reactors

  4. Thank goodness for common sense. Google is clearly no longer being run by “don’t be evil” folks anymore.
