  1. I like this!

I think this can also be done with ZALA and other UAV drones – to capture them and reuse them.

  2. Nice, now they can re-use that drone. Re-usable drones are probably a great way to reduce the cost of drone operations.

  3. Wonderful. I’ve been wanting to see some type of prop fouling rigs in action. Innovation is the key to war and the russians aren’t capable of it.

  4. Dude the land underneath looks like it would be no different if a drone was hovering over the western front in 1916.

  5. Hopefully they can incorporate a geotag / AirTag-like device to help locate them once they are down, improve the speed of recovery.

Of course with that, risk of self-destruct / anti-tampering will likely be added as well to reconnaissance drones if it’s not already (I don’t think so – but tell me I’m wrong).

  6. lol, talking with a friend i told him i was wondering why no one came up with a projectile like this for a shotgun or something, it would probably be a better way to deal with them on the ground

  7. I wonder how long before Russia or Ukraine but something like this on armoured vehicles or a automated Phalanx CIWS. It would only need to shoot BB’s.

  8. This method has been proposed and talked about here many times; it’s the first time I actually see it employed. Very smart; it’s likely the fallen copter can be re-cycled by its captors.

  9. This first decade of small drone combat is gonna see some real Rube Goldberg shit until the major powers start pumping serious $$$ into R&D. At some point in the near future when it’s all being done by autonomous computers we’ll certainly look back and laugh (or weep) at how improvised and humble the materiel and tactics are.

  10. Dude I’ve been saying this for a minute, a net with a shitty grenade just to blow it up when it’s in route to the ground

  11. This absolutely reminds me of how airplanes first game into use in WWI (apart from a few other scattered instances of very early events like fighting Pancho Villa). There is so much potential here for, well, really scary shit, as scary as it already is.

  12. Been waiting for this. Nets are gonna be one of the only real defense. Like an army for instance. Lasers and nets. No anti air will do it. Jamming seems to have been unreliable. Even choked shot ties would be no good. Rain shrapnel. Blunderbusts with nets.

  13. I cannot believe no one has said anything about “A tiny net!” or “reversing the capture method”

I am very disappointed in you all -.-
