  1. Just went to the supermarket for snacks, gonna spend the night watching live coverage of the election.

  2. Consequential, but there is nothing we can do to get the outcome we want.

There is actually something we can do, make Europe stronger than ever such that what happens in the USA becomes less important.

  3. I wonder… What will create more chaos tonight : Trump’s victory or Trump’s defeat ?

  4. Like sitting in the waiting room while your good friend is with the oncologist who is going to tell them if their cancer is terminal or in remission.

  5. The mere fact that is is of consequence to Europe who wins there is an indicator that something here is going wrong.

  6. I’m just galad when this is done, so reddit can turn back to normal without the constant politic talks.

  7. Europe has to ramp up its military no matter who wins. Even more so if Trump wins. Russia has become too brazen.

  8. USA elections are a Fcking carneval. No class at all. Fearmomgering and same people keep pulling strings behind their politicians.

  9. Europeans just make Europe more unified please, forget about your past grievances with each other and help each other out . As an American I urge you all to please learn from what’s happening out here. I understand that some of the brain rot that was created here has leaked into Europe also, please try to de indoctrinate people you know who have that poison in them I’ve lost plenty of friends and family members to this bullshit cult and don’t want that for any of you!!!!!?

  10. Like a football game. Maybe it goes against my prefered team, but I guess the winners deserve what they are getting…

EDIT: The real football, not handegg

  11. it’s like looking at a dumpster fire, they can only choose between bad and worse

instead of depending so much on them, our govts should get their shit together and make europe stronger and more independent

  12. That is how we know USA is still a superpower. Who gives a damn about elections in Russia? Nobody.
I am feeling very anxious and nervous.
But I know that feeling of nervousness and anxiety is democracy at its best. The greatest proof is we dont know the results in advance.

  13. Either Trump wins by a little or Kamala wins by a lot more than thought.

The thought process being that a lot of people might say they’re voting Trump but vote Kamala when alone on account of all the Trump supporters that walk around covered head to toe in guns.

  14. I’m just praying that Harris win.

If Trump wins, every country in Europe should start working on their own nukes. Perfect example is ukraine/Iran why you need nukes.

  15. As an American who browses and reads this sub regularly, don’t believe this ends tonight.

On one note, turnout is projected to be higher than 2020 (the highest we’ve had on record), and plenty of mail-in ballots were used in early voting. Additionally, many of our states (including the key state of Pennsylvania) don’t count mail-in ballots until the night of.

Nobody I know stateside thinks the election will be called tonight or early tomorrow morning. That would require a blowout no one has seen coming.

Plus if Trump loses he is dragging this out. We are a litigious people. We may very well have weeks left of this tension, just with a new flavor.

  16. As an American and swing state voter who’s unsure why I get recommended this sub, it feels weird even my state is in the spotlight for international audiences.

FWIW, I’ve received hundreds of texts, calls, and donation requests to vote for Harris in the U.S. state of Georgia. The pivot from Biden to her in a couple of months couldn’t have been done better. There’s no lack of enthusiasm or organization on the Democratic side compared to 2016. It still might not be enough but hey that’s democracy.

  17. It’s sad that the fact that the USA has much more power than the EU. Through NATO they basically decide our entire foreign policy, so basically the foreign policy of our european countries depend on an election (the american presidential election) we can’t take part to.

For example in this case: the american election will likely decide If NATO will continue supporting the Ukrainian war effort because if the US stop aiding Ukraine, our little relatively weak european countries won’t be able to support ukraine alone, we are totally dependent on the americans even for a war that will define the future of a fellow european country (Ukraine). We can only watch and hope.

I’m 100% pro NATO, I like the USA and I think the EU should always keep being its ally, I also strongly dislike Russia and China, however I wish we could be much more influential than we are. It’s kinda sad that we can’t form our own european federation or at least have a common army and foreign policy, it’s such a wasted potential.

I think that I have to accept that the EU and Europe in general will keep being less and less relevant and more dependent on the will of foreign superpowers.

We are weak and almost without any pride left, economically stagnating/declining and not able to take our own decision, anyone, Putin, Orban, Erdogan, China can do whatever they want unless maybe if the US intervene, unfortunately we are becoming a joke

  18. The rest of mine and my wife’s nuclear families all live in the US and have the right to vote, we’re the only non-US citizens so… Antsy, optimistic, hoping common sense will prevail.

At least the turnout seems to be very high and that’s something both sides can celebrate.

  19. i’m scared for people both in my country and outside of it lol. whether trump wins or loses there’s gonna be a shitshow (and i live in a very red state). i’ve already voted, so now i’m here sitting anxiously with the rest of the world. hope you all are doing well across the pond and elsewhere

  20. American living in Germany. I’m afraid for America, but I’ve been afraid for America since the days of the “hanging chad”, yet I’ve only lived in Germany on and off since 2013.

Every election since the Gore versus Bush election, that was ultimately decided by the Supreme Court. Ever since then I have not had a lot of confidence in the infrastructure of America’s voting system. The largest festering sore, would be the electoral college. This is such a mechanism for disenfranchising people, all people of America, but mainly minorities, of course, because that is the American way.

That being said, I’ve never been more afraid for America since the MAGA movement started by Donald Trump became a thing.

What is the mood, the mood is apprehensive the mood is afraid for the world as this is not just a United States of America issue. These populist candidates, are no different than 1930s populist candidates.

What is the mood? The mood is very wary.

  21. There’s a U.S. election today?!

There hasn’t been a single thing about it in the news.
