Paul du Quenoy, publisher and president of the Palm Beach Freedom Institute, said there’s a feeling of “anticipation” in Donald Trump’s hometown but lamented that “the security and traffic are going to be crazy”.
Du Quenoy, a three-time Trump voter, said he had met the former president, who owns the local resort Mar-a-Lago.
“He is absolutely charming,” du Quenoy, 46, said. “It’s like you’re the only other person in the room when you’re with Trump.”
Du Quenoy’s son Charlie, 9, said that in a recent poll at school, his classmates voted for Trump over Harris by a 64 per cent to 36 per cent margin, but some were not enthusiastic about their choice.
“They don’t like Kamala, so they have no choice but to vote for Trump,” Charlie continued.
Du Quenoy laughed and said, “Even in elementary school there are ‘double haters’.”
