THE COUNTY’S public health chief has been named among the leading crop of professionals in her role at a recent awards ceremony.
Lisa McNally, director of public health (DPH) for Worcestershire County Council, was selected in the top three for her role after being nominated for the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) National Impact Award.

This year only three DPHs across the whole of the four nations of Great Britain have been put forward to receive the Association of Directors of Public Health award.

The CMO National Impact Award recognises the impact DPHs have had since starting in the role.

Since joining the Worcestershire Public Health team in March 2023, Lisa has brought fresh energy and innovations to both professional colleagues and local communities. She is proud and honoured to have been nominated for this award.

Lisa said: “Being nominated for this award is one of the highlights of my career. But this recognition isn’t just about me, it’s about the incredible team I work with. The progress we’ve made is collective, and this nomination is for all of us.

“I’m passionate about ensuring that we build trust with our communities and provide the support they truly need.

“Public Health should always be about championing residents and delivering services that make a real difference.”

In just a short time Lisa’s achievements include taking an innovative approach to tackling health inequalities and investing in local communities, championing physical activity by investing in local running in the Wythall Fun Run and Worcester Junior Park Run, and pioneering a completely new approach to helping adults stay healthier for longer through the Healthy Worcestershire programme.

Paul Robinson, chief executive of Worcestershire County Council added: “Lisa’s nomination is a testament to her relentless commitment to improving lives and tackling health inequality of the people she serves.”

The ADPH, as the voice of Directors of Public Health, aims to champion public health across Great Britain, fostering collaborations and partnerships that strengthen the sector.
