Recently I got a position offer from a company located in Liechtenstein and there isn’t much information out there about how to get a work permit/visa to live in Liechenstenein or even if that’s possible apart from the lottery to get the residency. What’s the current status? Is it even possible? If it’s possible where should apply for such permit/visa? (I’m from an EEA country)

I only found this page that points that in fact is not possible:

If it’s not possible to get any permit/visa to live in Liechtenstein, is it possible or feasible to get a Switzerland live permit, work for a company in Liechtenstein and live in the canton of St. Gallen commuting the border?

  1. Yep, you could either take residence in Austria or Switzerland. There are two kinds of permits, one for working and one for working and residence but your company should be able to help you with such things.

  2. The organisation where you’ll work for will only be able to help you out.
    Only they can suggest the best possible way for your for this..

    I have lived in Liechtenstein for limited time ( I’m from India).. and I have seen most EEA citizens living in (Feldkirch in AT or Buchs in CH) very few people live in Liechtenstein..

  3. Regarding the permit for employment, there is also a preferential treatment if you belong to the “Kader”. But this applies to high level (like CEO, CFO etc.) employees only.

    Or you can marry someone who lives in Liechtenstein but it has to be a different sex, since same-sex marriages do not lead to a visa.
