    In the past 12 months: Turkey, Greece, Morocco, Libya, Iceland & Japan.

    Not unusual events but it seems they happen at a closer frequency.

  2. The Japan islands are the result of plate tectonic movement. There's an extremely deep trench just off shore in which the plates are interacting. Earthquakes are and will be a fact of life there for centuries to come.
