Sixth-grader killed, five people wounded and gunman dead in Iowa high school shooting
The shooter has been identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler a student at Perry High School Butler was armed with a pump action shotgun and a small caliber handgun the other five are being treated at area hospitals four of the victim surviving victims are students and the fifth is a school administ
Rator officers immediately attempted to locate the source of the threat and quickly found what appeared to be the shooter with a self-inflicted gunshot wound officers located during the search of the school an improvised explosive device the State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms rendered the device safe
Police said a sixth-grade student was killed and five others were wounded after a 17-year-old gunman opened fire inside Perry high school in Iowa on the first day back in class following the holiday break. Police named the suspect as Dylan Butler, and said he had been found dead by responding officers from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
