Japan: Villagers pick up the pieces after devastating earthquake
In the region around the city of wajima whole streets show the story of what’s happened here people’s lives their homes ripped apart so many reduced to Rubble 2 days on and the cleanup has barely begun there hasn’t been time to take stock or consider how life here gets put back
Together Miko’s family has lived here for Generations they all survived she thought they would not so this is your house wow oh my gosh I’m so sorry coming wow she shows us around the wreckage of her home she has no idea how they were built or what happens
Next I’m at a loss I’m at a loss I couldn’t do anything and I don’t know what’s going to happen now I feel fearful and Powerless over 30,000 people in this region have lost their homes or are not safe to stay in them most of them were told are
Elderly there are whole streets here that have just been totally devastated you can see these cracks in the road and a sense of just how traditional people’s lives were wicker baskets houses made of wood these delicate materials that just stood no chance and the devastation well it continues all the way up this
Street window the further we drive towards the epicenter the worse the roads become small cracks become great crevices and our phones alert us to the fact that the tremors are not yet done around 10 km from the hard hit city of wajima we can go no further and it’s here we meet Takoya
Yamagishi that was your home yeah and you walked to here and that took you five 5 hours 5 hours he’s journeyed on foot in the pouring rain to meet a car here he’ll collect supplies and then walk them back into his stranded vulnerable grandparents there is he says no other
Way everything Shook and houses collapsed he says there’s now no water no gas no electricity nothing so tired but I’m relieved I’ve been saved these personal plights are not lost on the rescue teams their task is now more about recovering the Dead the numbers they think will rise
Further this is the worst situation I’ve seen he says it’s really terrible local leaders have implied government help has come far too slow indeed the full scale is still hard to assess at the moment it’s obscured by the chaos Helen an Smith’s Sky News in wajima City region Western Japan
In the village of Kuroshima, near to the epicentre of the Noto peninsula earthquake, homes didn’t stand a chance.
Whole streets are destroyed or badly damaged as locals brace for more suffering ahead.

Prayers for strength to. The survivors. God bless the survivors.
If the power is restored the food comes in and its fully repaired it will go to normal
How sad. Those traditional villages hold so.many memories for generations.
Sushi
Even how worst the earthquake, Japan will surely recover easily because the government is purely devoted to its citizens and country. May the Almighty bless Japan and be guided as what should be the best. Hugs to all.
😥
The mayor of Anamizu Town in Noto Peninsula said the town received only four cup noodles and 10 blankets yesterday, while their population is 140. In the last 10 years, Japan’s corrupt government reduced the budget for disasters by 71 percent.

Young folks caring for their elders willing to walk miles and go to any length 😢😢😢
How Heartbreaking. And the young fellow out for supplies – great young man.
Good job Helen-Ann with the story.
