Boss of the criminal Group Los Chelos who disappeared from a Maximum Security Prison on Sunday well our special in this area is Mimi SBE who is with me now in the studio it sounds like chaos what’s going on tell us more it is chaos indeed the president has declared the

60-day National Emergency including an overnight curfew and this is after riots erupted by inmates in six of the nation’s jails and escape from prison of this convicted criminal leader Jose Alo Maas fador also known as fto much more easily now this signing of the decree has basically allowed authorities to

Carry out search and rescue operations in this Manhunt to try and find Ecuador’s most dangerous and most wanted criminal as he is the leader of the Los CH Renos now that is a very powerful very um large gang in the country and one which has a lot of control in the

Area but also inside the prison so people are wondering if that has some influence and how he escaped the authorities have said that this Gang has links to extortion murder drug trafficking a whole range of crimes but it has said it is in control of Ecuador’s main prisons so what do we

Gang members who are incarcerated and this has often resulted in really bloody massacres of inmates authorities have said that actually more than 400 inmates have died in such clashes since 2021 so a huge huge number and this violence Surge and violence isn’t just inside the prisons but also outside and this is

Because um there’s fighting between drug cartels over control of cocaine roots to the US and to Europe so there’s a huge swell of violence which is this reasonably new president is desperately trying to quell and regain some control as why he’s finally and really panicked stated this um state of emergency okay

  1. It's really a shame in the modern world we don't have a simple structure of principles that all countries must follow internationally to ensure these kind of problems aren't given a chance to develop the oversight should be responsibility of all countries to make sure we all together have a better world to live in regardless of what system you have we need global core principles that everyone can agree to and be accountable for. Real support is needed and internationally audited with actual powers to remove those who are breaking the basic core principles of established and developing nations.

  3. How could this be an embarrassment for a president who took office just 2 months ago? She doesn't even know the correct names. I'm Polish who lives in Ecuador for 10 years now, this situation has been building up for since the pandemic and this president is a non-politic who is a long awaited hope for some action. After a big crackdown on corruption among high officials, he now is trying to solve this problem crime problem. What I think they should do is to strengthen the border with Colombia to starve those gangs.
