Frankfurt’s DAX outpaced London while Paris’s CAC 40 was the outlier, ending fractionally lower. European exposure is behaving differently by market right now, and the choice of index or geography is doing real work in portfolios.

With the three major European benchmarks moving in different directions on the same session, the cohesion investors might expect from a broad European allocation is visibly breaking down. Any position sized on a pan-European view will want to reassess how much of today’s gain was London-specific rather than continent-wide.
