The inauguration of HMIL’s Pune manufacturing facility represents a key milestone in Hyundai Motor Group (the Group)’s long-term commitment to India. Located in Talegaon, Pune, Maharashtra, the facility strengthens HMIL’s manufacturing footprint while supporting the Group’s broader strategy to expand production, localization and exports from India.

The Pune plant begins operations with an annual installed production capacity of 170,000 units. Capacity is planned to expand in phases to 320,000 units by 2030.

With the Pune plant, the Group has established comprehensive production capacity of more than 1.4 million vehicles annually across India, encompassing HMIL’s existing facilities in Chennai (824,000 units capacity) and Kia India’s Anantapur plant (431,000 units capacity). As Pune’s capacity is scheduled to be scaled up in phases, the Group’s India manufacturing footprint will continue to expand.

The facility features flexible production systems capable of supporting multiple vehicle models, including internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid vehicles in the future, ensuring adaptability to evolving market demands.

The Pune plant will manufacture the all-new Hyundai VENUE exclusively for global markets, with exports planned to expand to more than 35 countries. This will further reinforce India’s role as an important global export hub for Hyundai Motor Group.

Along with the inauguration, HMIL also celebrated the achievement of cumulative exports of 4 million passenger vehicles from India since 1999. HMIL is cumulatively the largest exporter of passenger vehicles and the first automobile manufacturer to achieve the milestone of 4 million exports from India.
