CARY, N.C. – Carolina women’s tennis began tournament play at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday. The Tar Heels opened the weekend in the pre-qualifying round of singles and doubles at Cary Tennis Park.
Anna Frey picked up the first win of the day for the Tar Heels. She claimed a straight-set win over Madeleine Jessup from Princeton. In the afternoon wave, Aya Manning, Theadora Rabman, and Maddy Zampardo recorded wins in singles action. All four Tar Heel winners advance to the round of 128 starting at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

ITA All-American Championships
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association will hold their 43rd annual All-American Championship this coming week. The tournament continues to highlight the nation’s top tennis players while providing the athletes an opportunity to clinch a spot at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists). Meanwhile, five doubles teams (5) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists, consolation champion).
